Cores

The LA CaTS Center has a multi-facetted structure of expertise aimed at accelerating clinical and translational research by organizing its broad spectrum of specialized resources, research services and infrastructure into cores as depicted below. Click on each core below to learn more!

This Core provides the management structure for the Center and sets the tone for building a culture devoted to integration. This core implements our strategic plan, coordinates the work conducted by our cores and resources, tracks progress and convenes the LA CaTS Center governing and advisory committees and boards.

More Information

This Core provides support for accessing data from existing clinical health-related databases; development of a database (using REDCap) for prospective collection; and, consultation on specialized bioinformatics needs (i.e. genomics data, advanced data mining, computationally intensive analysis, etc.).

More Information

This Core provides consultation, guidance, and analytical resources for study design, epidemiology and statistical analysis of LA CaTS supported research projects.

More Information

These Resources offer clinic facilities, equipment and trained research personnel to conduct clinical research across the LA CaTS Center. The LA CaTS Clinical Trials Units are currently located in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas.

More Information

This Resource provides consultation and support for community-based research and partnering with communities to implement programs aimed at reducing health disparities. This Resource also has established Community Advisory Boards in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, offers training in community-based participatory research, and provides a bridge between scientists and the community.

More Information

This Core provides ongoing consultation to researchers in applying health literacy methodology in their translational research, implementation and dissemination of research findings. This Core provides consultation in protocol development, consent forms other written materials designed for vulnerable populations.

More Information

The Program provides direct financial support to Louisiana researchers for competitive pilot projects, facilitates in-kind support across collaborating institutions, and helps awardees obtain education and training to enhance their potential for success as independent translational investigators.

More Information

This Core provides clinical and translational research education through a curriculum for the MS in Clinical Research (MSCR) and the Certificate in Clinical Research (CCR). This Core provides training and support through the Roadmap and Meritorious Scholar Programs. Also, offers facilitation services to investigators by a Clinical Research Navigator - from protocol development to analysis and publication.

More Information

The Tracking and Evaluation (TE) Core is charged with developing and implementing strategies, processes and activities to collect useful data and provide meaningful evaluations at both the unique Key Component Activity (KCA)-level and overall Center-level.
