LA CaTS Center Sponsored Health Literacy Workshop
"Hidden impact on LA CaTS research and practical strategies to improve consent forms
and health information"

What:
This interactive workshop includes a brief overview of health literacy and its hidden
impact on the health of Louisiana citizens and LA CaTS clinical research. The session
will provide easy strategies to develop more effective health information. Drs. Terry
Davis and Connie Arnold (http://www.lacats.org/key-components/health-literacy-core/)
give step by step guidance in creating understandable consent documents, surveys and
patient education. The session provides hands on opportunities to apply the lessons
learned with your own materials. This is a free workshop, open to all LA CaTS Center
institutions.
Who Should Attend:
This 2 1/2 hour session is aimed at LA CaTS investigators, scholars, study coordinators,
students and any junior investigators involved in clinical research or quality improvement
projects.

LSU Health Sciences Center - New Orleans
Lions Building, 6th Floor Large Lecture Room
Meeting Details:
Workshop participants are asked to bring any patient education materials, consents,
surveys, etc. to this workshop to use during the training.
