LA CaTS 2013 Spring Pilot Grants Funding Opportunity

The LA CaTS Center announced its 2013 Spring Pilot Grants Funding Opportunity in April, which 76 letters of Intent were received from all of the member institutions of the LA CaTS Center. Selected full proposals are due by June 3, 2013. The earliest possible start date of the projects is September 1, 2013.

The Louisiana Clinical and Translational Science Center has selected two more Pilot projects for funding through institutional match by the Pennington Biomedical Research Center. Thus making the total of 10 awarded grants in the first round of Pilot Projects Funding Opportunity 2012.

Pennington Biomedical Research Center Study Finds Bedroom TV Viewing Increases Risk of Obesity in Children

BATON ROUGE, LA - A new research study from the Pennington Biomedical Research Center found that having a bedroom TV and TV viewing time were related to childhood obesity, and specifically high waist circumference. The study, entitled “Television, Adiposity, and Cardiometabolic Risk in Children and Adolescents,” was published today in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
