Stephanie BroylesResearchers at LSU’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center have recently released the initial dataset from the Risks Underlying Rural Areas Longitudinal (RURAL) Heart and Lung Study. This groundbreaking study aims to better understand why individuals living in rural communities face higher rates of heart and lung disease, stroke, diabetes, and obesity. Led by Dr. Stephanie Broyles, the study began data collection in Louisiana’s Assumption Parish before extending to Franklin Parish.

Dr. Stephanie Broyles is a Professor and Director of the Contextual Risk Factors Laboratory at Pennington Biomedical and LA CaTS Community Engagement Core Co-Leader. The LA CaTS Center congratulates Dr. Broyles and her team for their impactful work.
