Dr. Yilin YoshidaAdvancing Women’s Heart Health in Diabetes

Dr. Yilin Yoshida continues to make remarkable strides in her research on women’s excessive risk of heart failure in diabetes through her LA CaTS Administrative Supplement project. Her work, which explores biological and lifestyle factors across the life course, is progressing exceptionally well with exciting outcomes on the horizon.

This year, Dr. Yoshida has contributed extensively to the scientific community, including:

  • Two poster abstracts accepted for the upcoming AHA | EPI Lifestyle 2025 conference.
  • Two additional abstracts selected for oral and poster presentations at the 2025 American Diabetes Association (ADA) meeting.
  • Publication of her manuscript on psychosocial and behavioral risk patterns related to cardiovascular complications in type 2 diabetes in Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice.
  • Acceptance of her metabolomics study on cardiac dysfunction in hyperglycemia for publication in Diabetes Care.
  • An award-winning ADA abstract on social isolation, loneliness, and stroke risk in people with diabetes, recognized for excellence in the Sex as a Biological Variable & Women’s Health category.

This summer, Dr. Yoshida will further advance the field by participating in the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) Obesity Working Group in Washington, DC. There, she will join a distinguished group of experts in women’s metabolic health for a roundtable discussion, convening report, and a congressional hearing.

Dr. Yoshida’s dedication and leadership continue to push the boundaries of women’s health research, driving progress toward better understanding and ultimately reducing the disproportionate burden of heart failure in women with diabetes.
