Congratulations to Dr. M.A. "Tonette" Krousel-Wood, the Jack Aron Chair in Primary
Care Medicine and the director of the Center for Health Outcomes, Implementation and
Community Engaged Sciences (CHOICES) at Tulane University, and Dr. Franck Mauvais-Jarvis,
director of Tulane's Center of Excellence in Sex-Based Biology & Medicine, for obtaining
a $11.2 NIH grant to investigate how differences in sex and gender can impact health
outcomes and shape new treatments.
Dr. Krousel-Wood is the LA CaTS Pilot Grants Program Co-Director, PI of the Louisiana Community Engagement Alliance (LA-CEAL), and past pilot grants awardee for her project titled "Overcoming Immunity to Change: A feasibility study of a new method to promote medication adherence among older adults with hypertension". LA CEAL is a NIH outreach initiative to reach ethnic and racial minority communities in Louisiana that are disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Mauvais-Jarvais has received a multi-institutional grant for his project titled "Novel Tissue Selective Estrogen Complex with Bazedoxifene and the Prevention of Metabolic Dysfunction in Post-Menopausal Women".
