Jana PonceMalnutrition and Covid-19 Outcomes

Dr. Ponce, on behalf of her research team, is pleased to present “The Impact of Malnutrition on Clinical Outcomes in Patients Diagnosed with COVID-19”. This presentation will discuss our use of the National COVID Cohort Collaborative to determine how pre-existing or hospital-acquired malnutrition impacted patients hospitalized with COVID-19. Specific outcomes included death, mechanical ventilation, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and hospital acquired pressure injury (HAPI). In addition, Dr. Ponce will discuss the prompt translation of the results of this research to clinical practice at a University Hospital.
