The Pennington Biomedical's Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC) is pleased to announce a Special 2016 Pilot and Feasibility Grant Program (the full text of the Application Instructions can be found here). This program is intended to provide research support to test innovative hypotheses from a multidisciplinary team involving nutrition/obesity-related research. This research should involve some aspect of nutrient absorption, nutrient metabolism, cellular nutrient sensing or signaling, intervention/treatment response, and genetic aspects of nutrition-related chronic diseases.
The program enables investigators to generate a sufficient body of preliminary information for a successful application for major research funding from NIH or other national granting agencies.
- Letter of Intent due: Friday, May 28, 2016
- Submission Deadline: Friday, July 22, 2016
- Funding Available: $100,000
- Submission: Apply through the Pennington Biomedical NORC P&F web portal
Who is eligible:
- Full-time Associate or Assistant Professors, Instructors, and senior post-doctoral fellows at Pennington Biomedical Research Center and/or part of the LSU system, Tulane University, The Research Institute for Children New Orleans, and Xavier University.
- Junior investigators who do not have current or previous NIH (or other federal agencies) research support (excluding fellowship or career development awards) and who wish to establish their own independent research program. Senior postdoctoral fellows need to be part of the institution for longer than 1 year and having a potential for a full faculty position (a letter from the institution establishing their commitment to retain the candidate).
