Congratulations to Dr. Jennifer Caldwell for being selected to receive pilot funding
from the Forge AHEAD Center for her upcoming project “Linking GAINS: Linking Genetics
and Improving Nutrition in Scotlandville.” Dr. Caldwell is an Assistant Professor
& Director of the Public Health Genomics and Health Equity Laboratory and a member
of the LA CaTS Community Engagement & Outreach Core at Pennington Biomedical Research
Center. She is a human geneticist with an interest in combining genetic ancestry analysis
and community engaged research strategies. Her research uses interdisciplinary research
designs to observe genetic, environmental, and cultural factors that contribute to
chronic health disparities. Her epigenetic our study designs combine observing genetic
traits, social determinants of health and behavioral risk factors that impact health
disparities.
