The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has named Pennington Biomedical Research Center’s
Dr. Jacob Mey as one of six new registered dietitian nutritionists to the Media Spokesperson
Program. The Media Spokesperson Program has amplified evidence-based nutrition and healthy eating messages to millions of
Americans across media platforms.
Dr. Jacob Mey is a past LA CaTS Center Roadmap Scholar (Cohort 11). His project aim to establish a novel multi-diet feeding protocol to distinguish the effects of 1) increasing ketones in isolation, 2) activating hepatic ketogenesis, and 3) consuming a ketogenic diet. Dr. Mey will develop the three feeding protocols using a combination of food and dietary supplement approaches. This feeding protocol will help address a major barrier in the literature, which is the use of inconsistent ketogenic protocols, contributing to conflicting reports on the health and metabolic effects of ketone bodies.
